“…improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is at the very heart of the work of the school. You have created a clear vision of teaching and learning that is based on two pillars: firstly, that teachers must ensure the tasks they set accurately meet the needs of their pupils. Secondly, that pupils understand what they need to do to improve their work”.

“Comprehensive education does not get much better than this. Parents in a position to choose from the entire range of education on offer in the UK choose St Laurence. If you live locally, why look anywhere else?”

Local Authority’s Director of Education & Skills,

In 2019…

I would, therefore, like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the recently validated outcomes achieved by your pupils in 2019, which are amongst the best in Wiltshire secondary schools. We would particularly like to recognise your achievements in the areas listed below:

  • Your Year 11 cohort made better progress than the national average

  • Disavantaged children made better progress than the national average for all pupils.

In 2018….

..I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the recently validated outcomes achieved by your students in 2018, which are amongst the best secondary schools in Wiltshire.

It is very positive to see that you have risen to the challenge of higher expectations and that students have made above average progress between the end of key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4. It is also good to see that pupils have performed well in up to 8 qualifications, a score of 55.5 and that 61% achieved Grade 5 or above in English and maths.

We appreciate that these very good outcomes are due to the sustained commitment, hard work and success of your staff, governors and students.

Parents, Carers and Community Comments

I just wanted to take this opportunity, now that we’ve settled into the new term, to thank you for all your hard work and enthusiasm in putting together the Lakes trip. Our son had such a wonderful time and has benefitted in so many ways, we can’t thank you enough. The positive impact this has had for our children is incalculable.

We are really happy with how our daughter has settled into St Laurence and there seems to be so many opportunities for her.

We have had so many positive experiences from the school and our interactions with the staff have been really uplifting with the energy and enthusiasm shown being really positive.

It is indeed an indication of your genuine compassion, commitment and care for your pupils, more powerful to parents than any Ofsted judgment.

We value her education of course and know how much time and effort staff go to to deliver  this to our children, but it is the extras that give an average student the chance to shine and she feels she has had that chance – and so do we.

There are not many schools who go above and beyond in terms of individual support but your staff have been superb.

We are forever grateful for everything that your school has offered to our daughter and always highly recommend St Laurence to anyone asks our opinion on Secondary Schools in the area.
