The NHS COVID-19 app is part of a large scale coronavirus (COVID-19) testing and contact tracing programme called the NHS Test and Trace service.

The app will be used, alongside traditional contact tracing, to notify students if they’ve come into contact with someone who later tests positive for coronavirus.

It will help the NHS understand where and how quickly the virus is spreading, so it can respond quickly and effectively. The app helps the NHS track the virus, not the individual.

The app uses a smartphone’s existing “Exposure Logging” feature to work out if your pupil has spent time near other app users who have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

We would encourage any pupil over the 16 to download the app, as it will help to identify students that may have come into contact with the virus when socialising, using transport or in a public space.

More information is available in the download below.

The app is available to download on the App Store or Google Play.
