The annual Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Thursday 8th November. The evening will provide parents and students with all of the information they require about our excellent Sixth Form as well as a chance to meet subject staff who deliver our post-16 courses.

There will be two information talks in Trinity Hall:

17.30: Students and parents of Ashley House, Budbury House and Conigre House tutor groups 1 – 5.

18.00: Students and parents of Conigre House tutor groups 6 – 10, Huntingdon House and Westfield House students

Prospective new students to the school can attend either talk and there is no need to book a place at the evening. Application packs will be available on the evening.

Following the information talk subject staff will be on hand to discuss the detail of their courses in various parts of the school.

Further information about the evening will be released shortly, as well as our updated 2018 prospectus.

Talks in Wiltshire Music Centre on the school site start at 5pm and 6pm, followed by tours of the School

Year 5 and 6 parents and their children are invited to our Open Evening on Wednesday 26th September when there will be presentations about the School and opportunities to tour the site observing students and staff at work. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our students to the new school year.

Term starts on Wednesday 5th September for Years 7 and 12, and on Thursday 6th September for all other year groups (apart from year 13, who are on Work Experience).

All students should be in correct, full school uniform for the start of term.

We are delighted once again with an excellent set of GCSE results, in the year when the new, harder GCSEs have been introduced across a wider range of subjects. 90% achieved a Grade 4 in English, 87% achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and 82% of our students achieved at least a Grade 4 in both English and Maths (equivalent to the old grade C).

We are very proud that 42 students (19% of the year group) have achieved 8 or more grades of A or A* or equivalent across their subjects, despite the fact that the new GCSEs are considerably more demanding. Enabling all our students to achieve the best results they can, while encouraging them to develop a wide range of skills, is one of our key aims, so we are extremely pleased with their performance across the range of subjects. As well as English and Maths, there have been particularly strong results in Sciences, French, Geography, Food Technology and ICT.

Many congratulations to all our students, who have worked really hard, with the support of their teachers and families. We look forward to welcoming many of them into our sixth form shortly.

We are again celebrating the achievements of our amazing students. This year almost all subjects were being examined under the new, revised specifications and St Laurence sixth formers have continued to demonstrate excellent progress. 16 of our students achieved top grades of A or A* in all their subjects and 28% of all our grades were at A* or A. 54% of all the grades were at grades A*-B, 79% at grade C or above and 99% of the grades were passes. The average grade achieved was B-. Students with Oxbridge offers were successful in achieving the tough entry requirements demanded of them.

Well done Class of 2018! Your successes are well deserved and each of you has a great story to tell of determination to overcome challenges. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success in the next stage of your journeys at university, apprenticeships or work.
